GETTING TO THE YERBA BUENA CENTER
The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts spans the block between Howard and Mission Streets at Third Street in downtown San Francisco. The entrance for SRI is on 3rd Street. To reach the center via Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) , exit the Montgomery Street BART station on Market Street and walk one block west (away from the Ferry Building with its distinctive clock tower) to Third Street. Then walk a block and a half south on Third Street, just past Mission.
For those arriving by air, three major airports serve the San Francisco Bay Area: San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. While cost is certainly a consideration when choosing an arrival airport, please keep the following travel information in mind:

From San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
The BART system now offers transit directly from SFO to downtown San Francisco. The fare to the Montgomery Street Station is $4.70, and the ride takes 32 minutes. The SFO station is located on the third floor of the International Terminal (Garage G) and can be entered via the walk-in entrance on level 3 or by riding the terminal-to-terminal airport rail system, AirTrain. All domestic and international flights are a short walk (15 minutes or less) from the SFO BART station
Taking a shuttle to downtown San Francisco is another easy option. After picking up baggage at the airport, go back upstairs, go outside, and cross the street. Near the island are many shuttle services. Some hotels recommend the Super Shuttle, which costs $10.00 per person. Taxi fare is about $34 for the 14-mile drive.
From Oakland International Airport (OAK)
Call Luxor Shuttle Service [+1 (510) 562-7222] or Bayporter Express [+1 (415) 467-1800] upon arrival in Oakland to make arrangements. Shuttle cost is $20.00 for the first person and $10.00 for each additional person. A taxi ride would cost $55-60 for the 20-mile trip.
Another option from the Oakland Airport is BART. Take the AirBART shuttle to the Coliseum BART Station ($2.00) and then take BART to the Montgomery Street Station in San Francisco ($2.75).
From San Jose International Airport (SJC)
Call the South East Bay Shuttle [+1 (408) 225-4444] upon arrival in San Jose to make arrangements. Shuttle cost is $49.00 for the first person, $6.00 for each additional person.
GETTING AROUND
We strongly recommend that participants do not rent cars for this conference. Transportation from all airports is available, and public transportation in San Francisco is relatively inexpensive and easy to use. Parking at most downtown hotels costs $12-$18 per day.
Information about public transportation will be available at the conference and at all hotels. A wealth of transit information for the Bay Area is available through the San Francisco Bay Area Transit Information web site.

WEATHER
The weather in San Francisco in August is surprising to most visitors. Fog is standard in the early morning as well as late afternoon and evening. The average daytime temperature is 17 degrees C (65 degrees F), and evenings can drop 5 to 7 degrees C below that. Participants are encouraged to bring a light jacket or heavy sweater for evenings out.
